Steven
Gregory
Award-winning children's book author and storyteller Steven Gregory
received his bachelor's degree in Writing from the University of
California at San Diego and his master's in Literature from California
State University, Dominguez Hills. He has taught secondary English,
math, and public speaking. He also served as drama department chair and
directed the production of several plays, including the Japanese
folktale "The Crane Maiden." Steven has served as a board member of San
Diego Folk Heritage and as editor of their newsletter "Folk Notes." He
is a popular storyteller in San Diego County schools, libraries, and
other venues throughout Southern California. |

Reiko
Obata
A native Californian, accomplished musician Reiko Obata studied the
Japanese koto (13-string zither) under koto masters in both the United
States and Japan. She obtained her master's degree in koto from the
Seiha Conservatory of Japanese Music and her master's degree in music
from San Diego State University. Reiko performs a variety of ethnic
instruments as musical accompaniment to storytelling with Tales Alive.
She has taught World Music at San Diego Mesa College. Reiko has
released several CDs and the first-ever English language koto
instructional DVD.
