World folk and fairy tales have been around for thousands of years, teaching and entertaining. The goal of Tales Alive! is to keep these tales alive and available for readers of all ages.

"The Lion's Drum - A Retelling of an African Folktale" was our first book released, followed by "Chieko and the Pine - A Japanese Folktale."  

2014 was the release of the first two books in the "Choose Your Fairy Tale" series, "You Are...Puss in Boots" and "You Are...The Frog Prince." Both eBooks are available in .mobi (Kindle) or .epub (Android, iOS) formats, or can be purchased at Amazon.com.

For older readers, educators, or those who want to look with a little more depth into why we love folktales, "The Wisdom of Folktales" is an easy-to-read book that examines how many of the most important principles that lead to a life that ends "happily ever after" can be found in world folk and fairy tales.  The eBook (also available in .mobi or .epub format) looks at 10 principles and of life and contains over 25 folk and fairy tales from around the world!

Steven Gregory

Award-winning children's book author and former professional storyteller Steven Gregory received his bachelor's degree in Writing from the University of California at San Diego and his master's in Literature from California State University, Dominguez Hills. He has taught secondary English, math, public speaking, and drama. He also served as drama department chair and directed the production of several plays, including the Japanese folktale "The Crane Maiden." Steven has served as a board member of San Diego Folk Heritage and editor of their newsletter "Folk Notes." He is the producer and narrator of two Parents' Choice Award®-winning DVDs, "The Lion's Drum" and "Chieko and the Pine." He has authored two children's picture books, "The Lion's Drum" and "Chieko and the Pine," and the eBook series "Choose Your Fairy Tale." He has also written two eBooks on folktales for adults, "Achieving Greatness: What Folk and Fairy Tales Teach Us About Goals, Success, and Accomplishment" and "The Wisdom of Folktales: Lessons on How to Live Happily Ever After."
